Drug Testing Rules

  • All Pros earning a monetary reward are urine tested
  • All Pro Qualifying amateurs are urine tested
  • A random sample set of Amateurs and Pros at each event separate from the criteria listed above will also be urine tested
  • All athletes (Pro and Amateur) may be subject to out-of-competition urine testing to ensure adherence to the drug policy.

Amateur Classes & Rules

  • Teen/Collegiate – Ages 14-22 (Non-Pro Qualifying)
  • Masters Ages 35+ (Pro Qualifying)
  • Novice  – open to competitors of any age, but not to competitors who have won their class in Novice or placed Top 3 in an Open division contest. (Non-Pro Qualifying)
  • Open – open to competitors of any age or experience level. (Pro Qualifying)

Crossovers

  • Athletes may cross over from one type of class to another, such as Open and Masters; Open and Novice; or between divisions within a class such as Bikini & Figure.
  • Competitors ARE NOT PERMITTED to crossover between Pro and Open.

Obtaining a Pro Card

  • To win a pro card you must beat at least 5 athletes which can include other classes in your division, as well as win the overall if their is more than one class in your division. You must also have passed all drug testing requirements. For Men’s Bodybuilding and Women’s Physique there must be at least 3 athletes.
  • To win a pro card in a super pro qualifier there must be at least 5 athletes in your class and at least five athletes for the other height or weight classes. You must also have passed all drug testing requirements.

PRO ATHLETE REQUIREMENTS: Maintaining Your Pro-Status

Once an Athlete has been notified with a confirmation e-mail of passing the urine test that was administered at a sanctioned NFF Event, the Athlete must accept their Pro-Status by registering as an NFF Pro within 90 days from the received date of this e-mail.

Once the athlete is registered, the:  

  • NFF Pro must compete in an NFF show within 12 months
  • After first pro show, once every 24 months to maintain Pro-status
  • All NFF Pros must maintain their NFF Membership & 
  • Must keep the NFF pro membership active.
  • Pros may compete in any Pro class and are NOT permitted to compete in an Amateur division.
  • Pros are not permitted to crossover divisions at the same show.
      • Example: Pro Figure & Pro Women’s Physique is NOT permitted
